Baptism

Infant baptisms (for children under 7 years of age) are celebrated monthly with the exception of the liturgical seasons of Advent and Lent.

Requirements:

Parents must attend two (2) preparation sessions conducted by our Baptismal Preparation Team.

One godparent is required for Baptism, but two (a male and a female) may be recorded in the baptismal record. A godparent must be Catholic, at least 16 years of age, be baptized, confirmed, and have celebrated First Eucharist. They must be actively practicing their Catholic faith. A baptized, non-Catholic Christian may serve as a Christian witness to a Baptism along with a Catholic godparent. It is entirely allowable for each child to have a Christian witness as well. A Christian witness is an adult who is baptized in a Christian tradition other than Catholic and is practicing in that Christian tradition. The Christian witness, however, is not considered a second godparent but can be listed as a Christian witness in our parish’s official sacrament record and on a baptismal certificate.

Contact Jeanette Rowland in the Parish office at 244-6083 to register for a baptismal date and for the preparation sessions. Complete the Baptismal Information Worksheet and send it to the Parish Office well in advance of the baptism. Baptisms are not scheduled until the form is received.
