Sarah Coomes was hired at Saint Patrick Catholic School in June of 2015. She spent her first year as the math and reading resource teacher for grades K-3rd and the 2016-2017 school year as a Learning Coordinator
She is happy to continue to support our amazing administration, teachers, staff, parents and students at Saint Patrick as the Learning Coordinator for students grades JK-2nd and 6-8th for the 2017-2018 school year. Her role includes organizing and running meetings for students with Learning Differences, assisting parents and teachers with the implementation of appropriate interventions, as well as collaborating and supporting teachers with differentiated instruction for all learners in the areas of reading and math.
Ms. Coomes has spent most of her life in Louisville, Kentucky and attended Saint Albert the Great School in grades 1st-8th and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy High School in 1984. She received a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from University of Kentucky in 1988 and a M.A. in School Counseling from Eastern Kentucky University in 1992.
Her various work experiences have included Title-One Kindergarten, Elementary School Teaching in grades 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, and Reading Remediation in grades 1st and 4th.
Ms. Coomes worked in the Oldham County School system where she taught 5th grade at Harmony Elementary, 4th grade at LaGrange Elementary with additional experience as an Admissions and Release Committee Chairperson at Kenwood Station, LaGrange and Centerfield Elementary Schools. Her responsibilities included organizing and running meetings for students receiving specialized services.
Ms. Coomes and her three sons, Thomas 21, William 19, and Trey 12 belong to Saint Albert the Great Catholic Parish where she teaches 5th grade PREP Education on Sundays.
